Visit

GEOMUSEUM FAXE

Visit the museum and see two exhibitions about the geology and cultural history of limestone. The geological exhibition is about how limestone was created 63 million years ago, when all of Denmark was covered by the sea, and a lush coral reef was growing where the limestone quarry is found today. On the first floor we have a minor display showing the cultural history, which will take you through more than 900 years of limestone quarrying in Faxe. Finally, the museum's large panorama windows offer a fantastic view across the limestone quarry. Photo: Anja Gaard Olsen
